Back-to-School Events across GMF Communities

We believe education is essential to helping our resident children become successful adults. That’s why every year GMF and local ministry partners come together to meet the back-to-school needs of our residents.

Many of our apartment complexes host back-to-school events to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. At these events we often distribute school supplies and encourage the children to do their very best in their new classes.

For example, Bent Tree Apartments in Memphis, TN, gave out over 250 backpacks loaded with school supplies! They also had hair stylists and barbers on site to give the children back-to-school trims.

Eureka Gardens Apartments in Jacksonville, FL, hosted two back-to-school events. First, Hearts of Gold Ministries, an outreach to underprivileged children, sponsored an event. This ministry, started by two young ladies, truly blessed the community!

Second, the law office of John Phillips sponsored Eureka’s other backpack give-a-way. Over 100 backpacks with school supplies were given away at this event!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to these and other back-to-school events. Because of you, our children are off to a great start this year!

GMF’s Richard Hamlet Shares Gospel at Summer Festivals

One way we directly share the gospel with our residents is by hosting large festivals on or near many of our properties every year. We partner with local ministries and churches to promote these events throughout the communities.

Festivals are typically attended by hundreds of people. They enjoy free food and fun games and activities for the kids. Vendors offer services and products. There is also a main stage where bands and performers entertain before the main event: Reverend Richard Hamlet sharing a gospel message and inviting attendees to accept Christ.

When they make decisions for Christ, we connect people with local churches and the chaplains on our properties to ensure they have every opportunity to grow in their new relationships with Jesus.

In June GMF held one festival in New Orleans and a second in Atlanta. Our residents enjoyed the festivities and many responded to the gospel!

If you’d like to help us put on more events like these, please consider donating to GMF today.

New Chaplains at GMF’s Le Chateau Apartments Reaching Residents

One of our goals is to have a chaplain at every apartment complex we own. It is his or her job to care for our residents spiritually, creating relationships, sharing the gospel, and discipling believers.

In January GMF’s La Chateau Apartments in Lake Charles, LA, received two new chaplains, Heather Dowers and Abigal Dixon. The pair got busy hosting community get togethers to reach out to our residents.

One example of an out reach event is an outdoor movie night. Residents are invited to come visit before and after the movie, building relationships. Below are pictures from a movie night held in March. About 45 people attended as Moana was played on the big screen. As relationships grow, residents become open to spiritual conversations!

Last week some residents allowed their children to attend a 3-day VBS-style camp hosted by Child Evangelism Fellowship. Every day the children heard a story, had a Bible lesson, won prizes, memorized Bible verses, and learned songs. They all had a great time and kept telling us how they can’t wait for next year already!

The camp ended with an ice cream party. It was a great time where the gospel was clearly presented and the children were listening and learning more than our chaplains had ever seen!

We are very grateful to Mrs. Mary Glover and CEF for coming out and doing these events with us!
